Organizer Information:

Festival of Regions (Festival der Regionen). A community-oriented art and cultural festival that has explored and activated different regions in Upper Austria every two years since 1993.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for the Festival of Regions 2027: "Eintauchen / Diving Deeper".

The 2027 festival focuses on the Danube River, following it upstream from Linz with Aschach an der Donau serving as the festival center. The organizers are seeking projects that understand the Danube not merely as a backdrop or resource, but as a living actor and protagonist. They welcome experimental, interdisciplinary artistic approaches that dive into the ecological, political, and social currents of the river and its inhabitants.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to artists, culture initiatives, and people with cultural, social, ecological, and political commitment.
  • AI Policy: The organizers explicitly do NOT want project proposals that are predominantly or entirely generated by AI. They prefer sketches, unfinished thoughts, and linguistic imperfections over AI-polished texts.
  • Mandatory Attendance: Selected participants MUST be personally present for the Kick-Off Meeting in September 2026, press events, and the festival itself (June 11–20, 2027).
  • Language: Submissions are accepted in German or English only.
  • Regional Connection: Projects must involve people from the region and become present/tangible specifically in Aschach an der Donau.

  • Submission Portal: Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online form. (Note: You cannot edit or resubmit your proposal after submission).
  • Required Materials & Limits:
    1. Short project description (Max 700 characters).
    2. Relation to the festival theme (Max 700 characters).
    3. Full project description (Max 7 pages, 20 MB).
    4. Project visual (photo, graphic, or visualization including photo credits).
    5. Planned location/spatial requirements (Max 700 characters).
    6. Short biographies of participants (Max 1500 characters).
    7. Timeline for development and implementation (Max 1000 characters).
    8. Financial plan / budget (Attached separately).
