Organizer Information:

LABEA – Laboratory of Art, Science and Nature in co-creation with RCR Bunka Fundació (established by Pritzker Prize-winning RCR Arquitectes). This project is a living laboratory aimed at fostering interdisciplinary dialogues on the path towards an ecosocial transition.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for Forest Matter VIII (Materia Bosque).

This is an international cycle of audiovisual works exploring the poetics of trees and forests. The call seeks films that address "Forest Matter," which includes forest atmospheres, trees, and forest bodies.

Category:

Film & Video Art (Including experimental film, video art, video dance, video performance, short fiction, animation, and documentary).

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to filmmakers and artists worldwide.
  • Duration Limit: Submitted works MUST be strictly between 1 and 10 minutes in length.
  • Production Year & Premiere Status: There are no restrictions on the year of production. Works that have been previously screened or distributed are fully eligible to apply.
  • Language: Works with dialogue in any language are accepted.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Cash Awards: Two selected works will receive a prize of €700 each.
  • Screenings: Winning works will be exhibited on June 28, 2026, during the Open Programme at RCR La Vila (Olot, Catalonia), followed by additional screenings at the Dansaneu Festival (Vall d'Àneu, Lleida) in August, and in Navarre in September.

Application Requirements:

  • Submission Portal: Submissions are accepted via FilmFreeway or Google Form.
  • Requirements if Selected: Selected artists must be prepared to provide high-resolution images, a short synopsis (max 700 characters), a short biography (max 700 characters), and an optional link to a website or social media.

Key Dates:

  • Application Deadline: April 23, 2026.
  • Notification Date: May 7, 2026.
  • Premiere Screening: June 28, 2026 (at RCR La Vila).
