Short Description:

What does it mean to be lost?
Is it the ache of a memory you can’t fully grasp?
The silence left behind by someone who once filled your world? the uncertainty of a path with no clear end, the echo of a place once known, or a mystery that resists definition, or perhaps the moment you found yourself again, on a path you didn’t expect?

Welcome to Lost 2025, Gallerium’s second annual juried international exhibition, publication, and sales, inviting you to turn absence into presence, grief into beauty, and memories into meaningful expression.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

We live in a time where loss is no longer just personal—it’s collective. From the loss of loved ones and forgotten places to the fading of cultural traditions, the digital disconnect, and the unraveling of our environment, “lost” has become part of our shared human condition. But so, too, is rediscovery. Healing. Resilience. And art.

Lost 2025 is not just an exhibition—it’s a cathartic journey.

A chance for you, as an artist, to make sense of loss through your creative voice and to touch the lives of others who may find solace, recognition, or strength in your vision.

This is your opportunity to contribute to a powerful and timeless body of work—an artistic archive that honors what was, questions what is, and opens space for what could be found.

Topics and Themes to Explore

I was once lost, now I am found” — this powerful sentiment captures the essence of journeys through the unknown, the rediscovery of forgotten memories, and the transformation from uncertainty to clarity. It is this delicate interplay between being lost and found that we invite you to explore in Lost 2025.

To guide your imagination and deepen your artistic dialogue, here’s a wide-ranging list of suggested topics and themes, open to all mediums, styles, and artistic interpretations:

Nostalgia & Forgotten Joys: Faded toys, childhood dreams, bygone eras, personal relics.

Lost Loved Ones: Portraits of grief, remembrance rituals, symbolic objects, spiritual tributes.

Time & Aging: Clock imagery, natural decay, moments slipping away, wrinkle and rust.

Lost Identity: Displacement, cultural erasure, self-exploration, anonymity, hidden selves, migration.

Lost Places: Abandoned homes, changing cities, environmental ruin, ghost towns.

Lost Languages & Traditions: Endangered dialects, rituals, vanishing cultural markers.

Loss of Safety and Stability: War, conflict, natural disasters, forced migration, or collapsing social structures. Capture the fragility of what we once relied on—whether it’s home, peace, or certainty.

Loss of Love and Relationships: Breakups, divorce, estrangement, and friendships faded over time. Explore heartbreak without death—loss in the everyday.

Digital Disconnection: Loneliness in hyper-connectivity, ghosting, virtual unreality.

Loss Through Technology or Automation: Dehumanization, replacement of human experience, digital memory vs. real-life connection. A subtle erosion of presence.

Ecological Loss: Extinct species, disappearing forests, melting glaciers, lost seasons.

Historical Silence: Lost civilizations, forgotten heroes, erased histories, looted artifacts.

Dreams Deferred: Lost potential, paths not taken, unfulfilled ambitions.

Loss of Innocence or Betrayal: Personal trauma, disillusionment, or trust broken. Explore the emotional shift from purity to experience.

Unseen or Invisible Losses: Mental health struggles, internal battles, silent suffering, unseen disabilities. Express what’s felt but not always seen.

Collective or Generational Loss: Generational trauma, cultural exile, shared mourning, or inherited silence. Dive into the echoes of what entire communities have lost.

Mystery & the Unknown: Lost ships, mythical lands, Bermuda Triangle, metaphysical explorations.

Amnesia & Memory: Fragmented minds, fading recollections, visual storytelling of what’s almost remembered.

Spiritual Lostness: Crisis of faith, soul-searching, wandering pilgrimages, inner voids.

Loss of Purpose or Meaning: Creative burnout, spiritual confusion, existential emptiness, or the silence that follows success. When the ‘why’ disappears.

Into the Unknown: Exploration, adventure, discovery, uncertainty. Imagine desolate landscapes, treacherous paths, and abstract or figurative unknowns.

Loss in Dreams and Nightmares: Surreal visions of loss, subconscious symbols, recurring fears, or ephemeral moments that vanish on waking.

Abstract Loss: Conceptual representations of emptiness, absence, or the unnamable. Let your intuition guide the viewer through the indefinable.
