Galveston Artist Residency (GAR) is a fully funded, non-profit residency program dedicated to supporting the creative development of visual artists. Located on Galveston Island, Texas, GAR provides artists with uninterrupted time, studio space, and accommodation to focus on their practice. The residency fosters a small, collaborative community of artists and staff, encouraging professional exchange, creative experimentation, and sustained artistic engagement. GAR is committed to offering an immersive environment that blends Galveston’s unique coastal and industrial context with a supportive studio experience.

Galveston Artist Residency 2026–2027 – Open Call for Visual Artists
The Galveston Artist Residency invites applications for its 2026–2027 year, offering three fully funded 10-month residencies from October 1, 2026, to August 1, 2027. Designed as a gift of dedicated studio time, the program provides artists with a private apartment, a fully equipped studio, and a monthly stipend, along with a travel allowance. Residents are encouraged to focus on their Visual Art practice in a period of sustained immersion. GAR seeks artists who will benefit from uninterrupted studio work while engaging with a small, supportive community. The residency combines solitude for creative focus with access to a collaborative network and professional guidance.

Eligibility
- Open to artists currently living, working, or studying in the United States (international artists on valid U.S. visas are eligible, but visa extension is the artist’s responsibility).
- Emerging and established Visual Artists at any career stage.
- Individual artists, collaborations, or small teams (note: teams share studio and accommodation).
- Commitment to the full 10-month residency period is required.
- Artists must be adaptable to small, shared community living conditions.
Program Benefits & Awards

- Travel stipend of $500 USD (granted upon arrival and departure).
