Gasworks is offering an eleven-week, fully funded residency in London for an early-career contemporary visual artist based in Georgia. The residency focuses on professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation. It is self-led, non-prescriptive, and process-based, allowing the selected artist to research and develop new work, engage with the London art scene, and expand their network.

  • Application Deadline: 24 February 2025, 1 PM (UK time)
  • Interviews: Week of 10 March 2025
  • Final Selection: Week of 17 March 2025
  • Residency Dates: 7 July – 15 September 2025

 

Eligibility:

  • Open to early-career contemporary visual artists based in Georgia.
  • Artists of all ages and disciplines are welcome.
  • Must have at least moderate English proficiency for discussing work.

 

How to Apply:

Applications must be submitted online via Gasworks’ website as a single PDF (max 10MB) containing:

  1. Cover sheet (Name, contact details, website/social media links).
  2. 250-word artist statement (practice and interests).
  3. 250-word residency proposal (planned work/research).
  4. Portfolio (Up to 15 images/video/sound clips with captions).
  5. CV (max 3 pages).
  6. Additional documents (Press articles, exhibition details, etc.).
  • Alternative format: Audio/video responses for statements (2 & 3) can be included as links.

 

Selection Process:

  • A selection panel, including Gasworks staff and external advisors, will review applications.
  • Shortlisted artists (4) will be invited for online interviews in March 2025.
  • Priority is given to artists who have not worked in London before.
