Short Description

Halaqat – meaning “multiple links and circles” in Arabic – is a cultural project fostering exchange between Arab and European countries. The current phase (2024–2027) explores the theme of care through the lens of gender. It supports artistic production, community initiatives, residencies, festivals, and capacity-building activities in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Belgium.

This call supports artistic, cultural, and community-focused projects that engage with care and gender. Applicants may propose projects under one of two schemes:

  • Art Production Support Scheme: creation and development of new artistic works.
  • Care Initiatives Support Scheme: knowledge-building or community-based projects.

Projects must take place between January and November 2026 in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Belgium.

Art Production Support Scheme

  • Focus on creating new artistic works.
  • Eligible fields include: performing arts, visual/digital arts, literature, music & sonic arts.
  • Applicants must show experience in publicly presenting previous projects.

Care Initiatives Support Scheme

  • Focus on community-based or knowledge-building projects.
  • Eligible formats include: research, publications, educational tools, digital platforms, community workshops, podcasts, etc.
  • Projects should prioritize accessibility, inclusivity, and sharing outcomes with relevant communities.

Eligibility

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are applying as an individual or as a representative of an entity (collective, platform, organization, institution).
  • You are based and active in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, or Belgium.
  • Your project takes place in one of these countries between January and November 2026.
  • You have completed at least two relevant projects that show your capacity to deliver.
  • Your project clearly engages with care and gender in artistic, cultural, or community-based ways.
  • You are open to mentoring, knowledge exchange, and public engagement.

Submission Requirements

  • Proof of residence (for individuals) OR proof of registration/legal status (for organizations/collectives).
  • CV (individuals) OR organizational profile (entities).
  • Concept note (1–3 pages, in English).
  • Portfolio or work samples.
  • Budget proposal (using the template provided in GAP).

Program Benefits & Awards

You can apply for one of two types of grants:

  • Small-scale grant: up to €2,500
  • Medium-scale grant: up to €9,800

The funding can cover operational, artistic, and production costs. Applicants must submit a clear budget proposal that matches the project’s scale and objectives.
