Short Description

HKPAX provides a platform for arts practitioners and institutions in the performing arts industry worldwide to showcase their work to international peers, fostering collaboration and touring opportunities. Practitioners of all performing arts disciplines are welcome to apply.

Eligibility

  1. be a recognised artist or group specialising in the performing arts;
  2. have previous touring experience and be available to tour. Specifically, the applicant must have presented or performed in at least two ticketed productions, with at least one being a toured production within the past five years (2020–2025);
  3. have the financial and human resources required to undertake international touring;
  4. be available for the entire HKPAX period (9–13 October 2026).

The proposed performance must:

  1. be a performing arts work (dance, drama, multi-disciplinary arts, music, or xiqu). If you wish to specify other genres, please provide details under the “Other” category in your application.
  2. satisfy all of the following eligibility criteria:
    • Be a full-length performance with a duration of 45–60 minutes. Excerpt performances are allowed for xiqu’s work.
    • If the spoken language of the performance is not English, the applicant must submit a video with embedded English subtitles or provide the subtitle text separately.
    • If the performance is selected, the final presentation in the international showcase must be consistent with the version submitted in the video, along with English subtitles, if applicable.
  3. be a work that meets one of the following conditions:
    • has been premiered and toured before;
    • has been premiered but not yet toured; or
    • is ready to premiere and well-prepared for touring.
  4. The applicant must submit TWO video links, which should include:
    • a recording of a full-length performance with a duration of 45–60 minutes. Excerpt performances are allowed for xiqu’s work. For works that are ready to premiere, a full recording of the rehearsal and an overview of technical specifications are required.
    • a 3-minute highlighted video or trailer that clearly conveys the essence of the work, demonstrating its unique vision, creativity, and impact, allowing the panel to understand your work at a glance.

Submission Requirements

Section 1: About the Applicant

  1. Applicants are asked to provide their personal information, including full name, city of residence, bio, history of two previous productions, outcome expectations, and general contact information for the primary contact person.

Section 2: Proposed Project Overview

  1. Applicants are asked to provide general information about the proposed project. This includes the title of the work, creative concept, synopsis, target audience, keywords that describe the project, marketing positioning, names and roles of the primary creative team, project origin, art forms involved, number of performers, length of the piece, performance language, development status, and premiere or tour details.
  2. Video link
    Please make sure the link is accessible. If the video contains verbal elements in languages other than English, it must either include embedded English subtitles or be accompanied by a separate subtitle text file.
  3. Technical riders
    All essential production details, including but not limited to lighting setup, audio-visual equipment, estimated setup & strikeout time, and the weight and volume of sets or props, etc. Please also specify additional equipment required at the applicants’ own cost.
  4. Uploading marketing materials
    Including but not limited to media reviews, photos, trailers, key visuals, press kits, etc. Please compile all materials into a single file.
  5. Applicants are asked to prioritise three venues that are suitable for the proposed project. 

(Optional) Section 3: More engagement in HKPAX

  • Successful applicants may have additional opportunities to present a public activity for the local community in Hong Kong. Applicants may upload ONE proposal for our consideration. Each proposal should include:
    • Name of activity
    • Creative concept or purpose
    • Description, format and duration (e.g., workshop, pop-up performance, etc.)
    • Number of performers or facilitators
    • Target audience (e.g., general public, students, special groups, etc.)
    • Venue requirements (e.g., indoor, outdoor, theatre, schools, park, etc.)
    • Technical requirements
    • Activity implementation plan
    • Budget

Program Benefits & Awards

Successful applicants will be offered one to two performance opportunities at a designated venue in Hong Kong during HKPAX, where they can present their original work to a global audience. Each selected applicant will receive basic technical support from the performance venue, promotional support from HKPAX, a travel and accommodation allowance of US$10,000, a complimentary spot in the exhibition area to promote their work, and two Full Passes granting access to HKPAX events from 9 to 13 October 2026.
