The International Sculpture Symposium in St. Blasien transforms the town’s streets into an open-air studio, where visitors can witness artists creating unique sculptures under permanent tents. Organized by Hochschwarzwald Tourismus GmbH, the City of St. Blasien, and Werbe- und Aktivkreis St. Blasien, the event welcomes professional sculptors worldwide. The symposium concludes with a public auction of the completed works.   Information & Application Details: Application deadline: February 15, 2025 Symposium period: August 31 – September 7, 2025   Eligibility:
  • Open to all professional artists worldwide.
  • The theme for submissions is freely selectable.
  How to Apply:

  • Submit a completed application form, including:
    • Personal details
    • High-resolution personal photo
    • Short CV
    • Project proposal with a brief explanation
    • Sketch or high-resolution image of the proposed work
  Submission Requirements:
  • Material: Spruce wood (160-220 cm in height, 40-60 cm in diameter) provided by the organizers.
  • Artists must bring their own tools (some chainsaws may be available).
  • Safety gear is required, including cut-resistant trousers and closed shoes.
  Selection Process:
  • An independent jury will review applications in late February 2025.
  • Selected artists will be notified, and results will be published on the symposium website.
  Program Benefits/Awards:
  • Artist Fee: €1,200 (gross) upon project completion.
  • Travel Allowance: Flat-rate reimbursement based on residence location.
