Title & Description
Kala Yatra – Concept-Driven & Community-Engaged Artist Residency (Kathmandu, Nepal)
Kala Yatra invites applications for its concept-driven, community-engaged artist residency program designed for practitioners interested in exploring socially relevant topics, collaborating across cultures, and immersing themselves in an active artistic environment. The residency is flexible and self-funded, with durations ranging from two weeks to more than one month, making it suitable for artists with varying project timelines.
Residents are encouraged to approach their time at Kala Yatra either as a productive period for creation, research, writing, or collaboration—or as a space for rest, reflection, and non-productive exploration. Artists may propose exhibitions, open studios, talks, workshops, or community-based interventions. Those seeking silence and introspection are equally welcome.
Kala Yatra provides private self-catering accommodation, shared communal areas, and access to a diverse and supportive creative community. Reduced fees are available for SAARC-region artists, encouraging regional exchange and mobility.
