KÖR — Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Wien (Public Art Vienna) is a leading Austrian institution established by the City of Vienna to fund and oversee contemporary art in the public sphere. Since 2004, KÖR has acted as an intermediary between municipal authorities and the creative community. Their mission is to create permanent or temporary Public Art that addresses urban social issues, historical contexts, and aesthetic innovation. By commissioning site-specific works, KÖR ensures that contemporary Visual Arts remain an accessible and vital part of Vienna’s daily urban life, fostering public discourse and critical reflection.

KÖR Vienna Public Art Open Call 2026: Permanent and Temporary Public Art
This call invites artists and architects to propose interventions for the city of Vienna. The program follows a rigorous selection process based on the project's scale and budget. The goal is to support Visual Arts projects that respond specifically to the architectural or social fabric of Vienna. Whether it is a small-scale intervention or a large-scale structural Project, KÖR provides the institutional framework and Fund necessary to navigate urban regulations and bring conceptually ambitious works to fruition.

  • Primary Category: Visual Arts (including Sculpture, Installation, and Mural).
  • Interdisciplinary Arts: Projects involving Sound/Music, Light Art, or New Media.
  • Architecture: Urban design and spatial structures.

Eligibility

  • Professional Status: Open to established artists, architects, and creative collectives.
  • Location: While open to International applicants, the project must be realized in Vienna, Austria.
  • Project Nature: Proposals must be site-specific; "off-the-shelf" sculptures are not eligible.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Tier 1 Projects (Up to €10,000): Direct decision by the advisory board in a 1-stage procedure.
  • Tier 2 Projects (€10,000 to €100,000): A 2-stage adjudication process.
  • Design Fee: If selected for the second stage of a large-scale project, artists receive a flat-rate design fee of €2,000 (excl. VAT) to develop and present their detailed proposal.
  • Production Budget: Successful projects receive a full Production Budget (up to €100,000 excl. VAT).
  • Artist Fee: A separate Artist Fee is negotiated as part of the total project volume.

Additional Details
