Organizer Information:
The Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards (KLPA) is an annual global portrait photography competition based in Malaysia. Now in its 18th edition, it has become one of the most significant awards for contemporary portraiture in Southeast Asia.
Title & Description:
The 2026 theme is "People You Meet." KLPA is seeking portraits taken during recent travels—whether near or far. The jury is looking for enigmatic and engaging portraits of strangers that go beyond simple snapshots. Portraits can be posed or spontaneous, indoor or outdoor, but they must connect the viewer and the subject at a deeper level, offering an element of intrigue and uniqueness.

(All genres of photography are welcome as long as the focus is on the portrait).
Eligibility:
- Who: International photographers at all levels (amateur and professional).
- Scope: International / Worldwide.
- Submission Limit: Maximum of 2 separate submissions per photographer (each submission can contain up to 10 images).
Program Benefits & Awards:
- 1st Prize: €2,000 EUR.
- 2nd Prize: €1,000 EUR.
- 3rd Prize: €500 EUR.
- Exhibition: The top 40 finalists will have their portraits printed and exhibited in Kuala Lumpur in September 2026, with additional screenings at international partner festivals.
Application Fee:
- 1 image: €15 EUR
- 2 images: €30 EUR
- 3–6 images: €45 EUR
- 7–10 images: €65 EUR
Application Requirements:
Submit high-quality digital images along with suitable captions to provide meaning and context. Submissions are handled through the KLPA website or Picter.com.
