Organizer Information:

The Rhineland Regional Association (LVR) awards this prize for the 14th time in memory of the renowned painter and designer Leo Breuer (1893–1975). The award ceremony takes place at the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn, and the accompanying exhibition is hosted by the Society for Art and Design (gkg) in Bonn.

Applications are open for the Leo Breuer Advancement Prize 2026.

This prize is aimed at artists whose work represents a contemporary engagement with concrete and constructivist design. Selected applicants are expected to be available in person to accept the award in Bonn on September 21, 2026.

Eligibility:

  • Who: Artists of all nationalities and all disciplines.
  • Artistic Focus: The work must represent a contemporary engagement with concrete and constructivist design.
  • Mandatory Presence: By applying, you agree to be available in person to accept the award in Bonn on September 21, 2026.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Prize Money: A cash prize of €5,000.
  • Exhibition: An accompanying exhibition at the Society for Art and Design (gkg) in Bonn, scheduled to open a few days after the award ceremony.

  • Shipping Costs: Applicants are responsible for the postage to mail their physical application to Germany. (If you want your materials returned, you must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope).
