Short Description

The Fellowship Program supports a diverse range of cultural producers who are working at the forefront of their creative fields. Each fellowship has a duration of six weeks, runs year-round, and provides housing, meals, studio space, and $1,750 in financial support.

Fellows are accommodated in a private bedroom within a three-story Victorian house, where they share a kitchen, bathrooms, and common living spaces. All dietary needs are met, and on most evenings, Lighthouse Works staff prepare and share dinner with the fellows. The studios are located approximately 1.5 miles—or about a 30-minute walk—from the fellowship house.

The studio building is located adjacent to Silver Eel Cove, the point of arrival and departure for the island ferry. Each studio is private, filled with natural light, and oriented toward the ocean. In addition, Lighthouse Works provides access to a wood and metal fabrication shop as well as a kiln.

During the residency, fellows’ primary responsibility is to pursue their individual work. However, each fellow is also asked to participate in two events—an Artist Talk and an Open Studio—which serve as bookends to the fellowship. Owing to the small scale and intimate nature of the program, participants naturally come to know one another. This structure fosters opportunities for conversation, critique, and collaboration.
