Short Description
Friche la Belle de Mai is joining forces with Iméra, the Institut for Advanced Study (IEA) of Aix Marseille Université, as part of a cooperation project in partnership with the French cultural network abroad and with the support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs: “Mawjaat: Creative Hubs for Cultural Transitions in the Mediterranean“ This project is part of a drive to strengthen links between cultural creative hubs in five countries on the southern shore of the Mediterranean: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon, as well as France.
Eligibility
Candidates who have previously been in residence at Iméra may submit a new application a minimum of 5 years after their last research stay.
Candidates who meet these 6 conditions are eligible:
- The selected candidate must be able, particularly in administrative and consular terms, to travel to the six countries concerned (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, and France).
- Have proven scientific excellence in a research field related to creative hubs, their hybrid forms, narratives, and functions.
- Have not resided in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to this call for applications.
- Hold a doctorate or Ph.D., or have 6 years of research experience after obtaining a master’s degree.
- The candidate must have a legal status that allows them to contract for the provision of services.
- Language skills: English, French (full professional proficiency in writing and full oral comprehension), and literary Arabic (spoken) or, failing that, a spoken Arabic dialect from one of the project countries.
Submission Requirements
o A curriculum vitae including a list of publications (maximum 10 pages).
o A presentation of the research project to be conducted during the residency (maximum 5 pages), followed by a selective bibliography.
o (Optional) A letter of reference from a prominent figure who has played a decisive role in the candidate’s scientific career.

Program Benefits & Awards
The candidate selected for this search will receive a monthly allowance of 2,000 euros over 17 months (including the period of residence at Iméra).
He or she will also be entitled to travel expenses, per diems for his or her fieldwork according to a fixed budget and accommodation on the Iméra site during the 5-month residency at the final stage (from 4 February to 30 June 2027).
