Brief Description

FilmNorth, in collaboration with the McKnight Foundation, is offering four $25,000 fellowships to mid-career media artists residing in Minnesota. These unrestricted grants support artists who have demonstrated artistic excellence and proficiency in media arts. This is not a project-specific grant but rather a recognition of the artist’s career and work.

Eligibility

  • Must be a resident of Minnesota (US)
  • Artists must have a sustained commitment to media arts and demonstrate artistic excellence in their field

 

Theme

  • Focus on Media Arts, including digital, sound, and video disciplines

 

How to Apply

  • Applications open on February 3, 2025
  • A virtual “How-to-Apply” workshop will be held on February 12, 2025 (6:00–7:00 PM CST)
  • Final application submission deadline: March 24, 2025 (5:00 PM CST)
  • Feedback on applications available until March 27, 2025

 

Submission Requirements

  • Portfolio showcasing artistic work
  • CV detailing professional experience

 

Selection Process

  • One fellowship for screenwriting will be selected by a single juror
  • The other three fellowships (non-screenwriting) will be selected by a panel of three jurors
  • Selection is based on artistic excellence, merit, clarity of vision, professional accomplishment, and commitment
