The Momo Distribution Grant is an annual support opportunity for emerging Southeast Asian directors who have completed a short film that has never been publicly screened. The Grant provides cash and strategic distribution support to help the selected film world‑premiere within eight months of the award. Open to projects across all genres — including drama, experimental, documentary, and animation — this initiative encourages a strong festival and distribution strategy to bring regional cinema to global audiences.

Eligibility

  • The director must be of Southeast Asian descent and a citizen.
  • The director must have directed a previous short film but must not have directed a feature film.
  • Open only to non‑students (full‑time students are ineligible).
  • Film must be produced in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam).
  • Submitted films must have a complete cut + English subtitles and not have been screened prior to application.
  • Film length must not exceed 30 minutes.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • SG$1,000 distribution support (cash grant; non‑transferable).
  • Requirement to world premiere the film within 8 months of the award date.
  • Opportunity to have the short film supported with strategic distribution planning.
  • Recipients will be invited to present feature film proposals to the Donor for potential investment consideration.
  • Selected films will display the Momo Distribution Grant support logos in the final completed film.
  • Only five films will be selected (all decisions final).
