Taidetila Muijala is an artist-run residency and art space located in the village of Reila in southwest Finland. Surrounded by the forest and the sea, the organization focuses heavily on artistic freedom, artists’ wellbeing, peer support, ecology, and feminism.

Applications are now open for the Art Space Muijala 2026 Artist Residencies.
This program offers artists an inspiring experience in nature, cozy accommodation, and extensive workspaces. Hosting 3 to 5 artists at a time, each residency is guided entirely by the artist's own process and needs. It is an ideal environment for those seeking a quiet place for research, uninterrupted time for material experiments, or room for spacious, expansive projects.

Program Benefits & Awards:
- Workspace: Artists can choose a dedicated workspace in the rowhouse studios, the large industrial garage, or the barn depending on their project's needs.
- Accommodation: A private bedroom in the accommodation house with access to shared living spaces (kitchen, dining room, bathrooms).
- Environment: Free access to the garden and a traditional Finnish sea sauna.

Program Costs:
- Residency Fee: A sliding scale of €520 – €850 EUR per person, per month (allowing artists to pay the minimum to cover hosting costs or invest more into the non-profit organization).
- Deposit: A €100 EUR deposit is required upon acceptance to secure the spot (returned within two weeks of departure). Full fee is due before arrival.
Application Requirements:
Submit a free-form motivation letter or work plan, a CV, and a portfolio (or website link). In the email body, you must explicitly state your preferred duration and dates (multiple options if possible), workspace preferences/needs, full contact details, and any special requirements or allergies.
