Organizer Information

Pollen is a contemporary art platform and residency space based in Monflanquin, France. Established as a site for exchange, experimentation, and artistic research, Pollen operates less as an exhibition-driven institution and more as a process-oriented environment where artistic development is central. The organization supports professional visual artists by offering dedicated time, space, and critical engagement with peers, cultural professionals, and audiences. Its residency model is designed to function as a “testing ground” for artistic ideas, encouraging experimentation without the pressure of producing a final exhibition as the primary outcome. Instead, the residency emphasizes dialogue, research, and long-term artistic growth. Through its curatorial framework and networked cultural engagement, Pollen positions itself as a reflective and supportive structure within the contemporary European art ecosystem.

Title & Description

Pollen Residency Open Call 2027 (Monflanquin, France)

The Pollen Residency Open Call invites professional visual artists from all nationalities and age groups to participate in a three-month residency program taking place from 15 February to 15 May 2027 in Monflanquin, France. The residency is structured as a research-driven and experimental environment, where artists are encouraged to develop their practice through sustained engagement rather than production-oriented expectations.

Unlike conventional residency programs that prioritize final exhibitions, Pollen treats exhibition-making as a secondary tool rather than a required outcome. The core focus lies in artistic exploration, conceptual development, and the deepening of individual practice. Artists are expected to work on-site continuously throughout the residency period, engaging with the local cultural environment, other resident artists, and visiting professionals.

Participants will benefit from a context that encourages dialogue across disciplines and audiences, including interactions with school groups, cultural operators, and contemporary art practitioners. Each selected artist is free to develop multiple projects simultaneously, within the limitations of time, budget, and available resources.

The program is particularly suited for artists seeking a reflective, process-based environment in which to expand their methodologies, test new ideas, and strengthen their artistic trajectory in an internationally oriented but intimate residency setting.
