TWAIN Centro Produzione Danza e Residenza Artistica is an Italian cultural organization and artistic hub dedicated to supporting the creation, production, residency, training, and performance of contemporary Dance. Under the artistic leadership of Loredana Parrella, TWAIN operates within the broader Italian and European live arts ecosystem, championing emerging and mid‑career artists across multidisciplinary performing arts practices. Through partnerships with regional and national institutions, professional networks, festivals, and cultural associations, TWAIN fosters professional development, artistic experimentation, and sustained engagement between creators and audiences. Premio TWAIN_direzioniAltre 2026 – Production, Residency, and Circulation Support for Contemporary Dance Authors
The Premio TWAIN_direzioniAltre 2026 is an annual Dance production award and development opportunity designed to support under‑40 artistic authors and their contemporary dance projects. This open call invites artists and companies working in contemporary dance whose works are in the development or pre‑production phase and have not yet debuted in full form. Selected projects receive professional presentation opportunities, financial contributions, Residency support, and network access to major performance platforms during the Festival direzioniAltre 2026. Over two days in August, finalists present their staged work to a panel of experts and the public, culminating in the announcement of the winning project and the award of production and circulation support for the 2026/2027 creative season.

Eligibility
Artists, choreographers, and companies meeting the following criteria may apply:
- Italian or European creators who have not yet reached 36 years of age by 31 December 2026.
- In the case of collaborative or group proposals, at least two‑thirds of the participants must be under 40 years old.
- Proposed projects must be original, in development or study phase, and must not have debuted in complete performance form.
Program Benefits & Awards
The Premio TWAIN_direzioniAltre 2026 offers a range of professional benefits, including:
- Staged Presentation at Festival direzioniAltre 2026 – Finalists present their work (5–15 minutes) at the Supercinema of Tuscania (Viterbo), Italy, before an expert jury and the public.
- Financial Contributions for the winning project:
- A production support grant of €1,500–€7,000 (gross), depending on the number of artists involved.
- Artistic Residency – A minimum of 10 days residency at TWAIN Residenza Artistica in Tuscania and Canino during January–August 2027, including mentorship and guidance from an assigned tutor (e.g., dramaturg, choreographer).
- Performance Circulation – The winning project is scheduled for presentation in the 2027 season of TWAIN Centro di Produzione Danza, with a performance fee of up to €1,200 + VAT.
- Festival Inclusion – Opportunities for additional circulation include performance presentations at external events such as the Mirabilia Festival 2027 and other networked platforms, with terms coordinated alongside artistic directors.
- Finalist Recognition – Finalists receive technical assistance, hospitality in festival guest accommodations, and performance fees during the final presentation days:
- €200 for solos
- €300 for duets
- €400 for trios/quartets
- Additional circulation and residency opportunities may be extended for select finalists within partner institutional programs (e.g., Orbita/Spellbound – Centro Nazionale di Produzione Danza, AreaDanza Urban Dance Festival, Dominio Pubblico – Youth Fest, and more).
