Organizer Information
Frac Bretagne is a regional contemporary art collection (Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain) operating in Brittany, France. Over decades, Frac Bretagne has played a major role in supporting, exhibiting, and disseminating contemporary visual art across the region — building a substantial collection and collaborating with many regional art institutions.
Art Norac, the patronage foundation of the Norac Foods group, supports the award. Art Norac’s mission is to support contemporary creation and help artists from Brittany gain visibility beyond regional boundaries.
Together, Frac Bretagne and Art Norac launched the joint award to help artists based in Brittany reach the international stage.
Title & Description
Prix du Frac Bretagne – Art Norac 2026
The 2026 edition of the Prix du Frac Bretagne – Art Norac calls for applications from visual artists living and working in Brittany. The purpose of the award is to support the international professional development of artists from the Breton art scene, offering them an opportunity to realize a solo exhibition abroad. For 2026, the partner institution is TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin, Poland. The selected laureate will be offered an exhibition at TRAFO, allowing their work to gain international exposure and connect with a broader European context. This initiative aims to bridge the local (Brittany) and international contemporary art worlds, enabling artists to expand their audience, professional network, and career trajectory beyond regional borders.

- Visual Art / Contemporary Art
- Exhibition-based Art (painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, multimedia — any visual media, according to the regulations)
Eligibility
- Artists (individuals – the call excludes collectives or trios)
- Age: between 18 and 40 years old.
- Must live and work in Brittany, or at least have their artistic practice based in the region. Proof of residence or professional activity in Brittany may be requested.
- For previous editions, applicants were required to have studied in Brittany (higher art education) or have had a personal exhibition or a residency in Brittany in the 5 years preceding the call.

Program Benefits & Awards
- The “lauréat·e” (winner) receives €2,200 gross for conception rights.
- For finalists (i.e., among the 4 selected, but not necessarily the winner), there is a production budget of up to €3,000 (TTC) for mounting their works in the finalist exhibition at Frac Bretagne.
- For non-winning finalists: there is a package of €1,500 gross (an “enveloppe globale”) that covers certain costs — transport A/R, transport of works, production/material costs, and perhaps other logistical costs linked to participation.
- For the winner’s solo exhibition abroad (at the partner institution TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art — for 2026, in Szczecin, Poland): travel (round-trip), accommodation if needed, “indemnité de vie” (living allowance) during installation period, and on-site accommodation are provided.
- The winner of the award will get a solo exhibition at TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin, Poland. This gives international exposure and an opportunity to present their work to a new audience.
- For non-winning finalists, previous editions offered a residency in a subsidiary company of Norac Foods, which suggests some continued support even without winning the main prize.
- The award aims to foster the professionalization and internationalization of artists from Brittany, helping them build networks, experience international exhibition contexts, and further their careers beyond regional art circuits.
