The Guild of Artists & Artisans and The Gutman Gallery are presenting their newest exhibition in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Gutman Gallery is dedicated to illuminating the evolution of ideas and fostering a richer dialogue between artists and audiences by highlighting the dynamic interplay of inspiration, reflection, and technical skill.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for Process: A Human Exhibition.

This unique exhibition seeks to reveal the decisions, detours, and discoveries that shape artistic practice. The curators want to see the sketches, drafts, revisions, research materials, notes, and iterations right alongside the final result.

Selected artists must submit both their completed works and the materials documenting their creative process (e.g., initial sketches, process journals, video documentation). Each completed piece will be paired with its corresponding process documentation, utilizing clear labeling and engaging layouts to highlight the relationship between the initial ideas and the finalized pieces.

Note: Work previously juried into a Gutman Gallery exhibition or currently in the gallery is ineligible. AI-generated derivative works are strictly prohibited.

(Open to all media, 2D and 3D, fine art, and handcrafted goods. Excludes AI-generated work, commercial kits/molds, and specific craft novelty items as detailed in the prospectus).

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to all artists (Guild members and non-members).
  • Requirements: Work MUST be completed upon submitting the application and MUST be accompanied by at least one example of the artist’s process.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Exhibition: Showcase your work and creative process at the Gutman Gallery (March 21 – May 2, 2026).
  • Sales: Guild members receive 70% of the sale price; non-members receive 60% (The Guild retains the remaining commission).

Application Fee:

  • Guild Members: $20.00 USD.
  • Non-Members: $40.00 USD.(Non-refundable).

Program Costs:

  • Artists are responsible for the delivery and pick-up of their artwork during designated dates.

Application Requirements:

Submit the completed online application form with images of the finished work and the accompanying process materials.

Key Dates:

  • Application Deadline: March 5, 2026.
  • Jury Decisions: March 5 – 9, 2026.
  • Exhibition Dates: March 21 – May 2, 2026.
