Organizer Information

Produit Rien is an independent, artist-run project space located at 6909 rue Marconi in the Mile-Ex neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, housed in a former tofu factory (its name comes from the ghost signage of "Produit Oriental," the building's previous tenant). Launched in 2020 by artists Paul Litherland and Karen Trask, the roughly 52.5 m² space operates as a self-financed, non-commercial gallery that runs monthly exhibitions, experimental workshops, and community-led events without receiving public funding for its programming. Its independence and lack of public subsidy directly shape its model: rental fees from exhibiting artists and organizers cover the space's operating and maintenance costs.

Title & Description

Produit Rien — Submissions

Produit Rien invites artists to submit proposals for exhibitions at its Montreal project space, with a stated priority on experimental, interdisciplinary, and research-driven practices. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with review of new files beginning April 1st. Selected exhibitions are scheduled according to calendar availability and made available to the artist on a rental basis, with terms set according to the scope and duration of each project; Produit Rien takes no commission on the sale of works. Beyond exhibitions, the space also hosts workshops, performances, readings, and other short-term events, and can consider longer-term rentals depending on availability.
