Applications are open for the Rare Sea Self-Funded Residency 2026.

This international program invites multidisciplinary artists, researchers, and curators to fully engage with the local art scene in Vietnam. Emphasizing the artistic process over the pressure of finished products, the residency is ideal for those seeking to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture while expanding their experimental practice.

Through this initiative, Rare Sea aspires to create lasting connections that bridge local and international artistic landscapes. Residents are integrated into Rare Sea’s wider ecosystem, gaining access to exhibitions, events, and visiting curators.

  • Studio: Shared studio space (30 sqm, city-facing window) for 1–2 artists, with 24/7 access.

  • Support: Curatorial, technical, administrative, and graphic design support.

  • Equipment: Access to basic hand and power tools.

  • Engagement: Opportunities for informal studio visits, peer exchange, and optional public engagement (open studios, artist talks).

Program Costs:

$800 USD per month (Residency Fee).

  • Note: This is a self-funded residency. The fee covers studio space and support. Accommodation is NOT provided, though the studio is located in a central area (Ben Thanh Ward).
