Organizer Information
Raw Matters is a non-profit organization founded in Vienna in 2010, offering artists in dance and performance a platform to share new ideas and unfinished working processes on stage in front of an audience. Deborah Hazler and Nanina Kotlowski lead the organization and runs an "Unpolished Dance and Performance Evening" as a recurring event, using this open call format to select participating artists for each edition. Its stated aim is to create a supportive framework that values artistic process, encouraging artists to make and show work at various stages of development, including risk-taking and experimentation rather than only polished, finished pieces.
Brunnenpassage, this call's co-organizer, is a Vienna-based art and social space that has operated since 2007 as a laboratory and venue for transcultural and participatory art in a former market hall in the city's 16th district. It hosts over 400 events annually across theatre, dance, music, exhibitions, and film, and works to give a broad cross-section of Vienna's population — including groups often underrepresented in the traditional arts scene — access to and active participation in contemporary art.
