Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts (RHA). The RHA is Ireland’s powerhouse of the Arts, steered by an artist-run academy of our time. Our mission is to support artists. We stage free public exhibitions and provide artist-led training in the visual arts.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for the RHA Ashford Gallery 2027 Exhibition Programme.

The RHA invites artists to submit proposals for 4-week exhibition slots in the Ashford Gallery. Selected exhibitions will be scheduled from January 2027 through the end of Autumn 2027.

Eligibility:

  • Representation: Artists MUST NOT already have commercial representation on the island of Ireland.
  • Alumni Rule: Artists MUST NOT have been included in previous RHA Ashford Gallery exhibition programmes.
  • Sales: At least 90% of the exhibited work MUST be available for sale.
  • Submission Limit: Only one application per artist is permissible.
  • Proposal Finality: Artists may not change their initial proposal submitted at the time of application; exhibition proposals must be strictly adhered to during installation.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Exhibition Slot: A 4-week exhibition in the Ashford Gallery.
  • Logistics & Transport: Transport for the delivery and return of artworks will be organized and covered by the RHA within the island of Ireland only.
  • Support: Artists benefit from working closely with the RHA’s technical team for installation/de-installation, and the RHA Curator is available to help plan the exhibition layout.
  • Commissions: The RHA retains a 35% commission on all sales during the exhibition. (Note: There is no artist or production fee provided).

  • Application Fee: Free to apply.

Application Requirements:

  • Submission Method: Applications must be submitted by EMAIL ONLY. The email subject line MUST read exactly: ASHFORD SUBMISSION – [ARTIST NAME].
  • File Formatting: Applications should preferably be submitted as a single PDF document (incorporating all texts and images). The PDF MUST be under 6MB, ideally horizontally formatted, and contain absolutely NO cover-page or end-page images. (Note: If sending individual image files instead, each must be no larger than 1MB).
  • Image Limit: Your application MUST NOT exceed 8 images (any linked videos count towards this total of 8). The only exception is for technical details, such as gallery plans or mock-up sketches.
  • Required Contents:
    1. Artist statement (max. 100 words).
    2. Exhibition proposal (max. 600 words) plus a list of any specialized equipment required.
    3. Maximum 8 images and/or links to video work.
    4. CV.
    5. An indicative list of the price range of the artworks (must be full sale prices, regardless of commission).
