Title & Description

Curatorial Assistant – Collections (Fixed-Term Contract, Part-Time) The RA invites applications from motivated and skilled individuals for the role of Curatorial Assistant (Collections). This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in curatorial practice, art management, and exhibition development within a world-class institution. The assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the Collections Team, helping organize, document, and present artworks in the newly expanded Collections Gallery, and providing administrative support for curatorial projects. The role is ideal for early-career professionals seeking practical exposure to museum operations, collections care, and exhibition research in Visual Arts and Curatorial practice.

The Role Overview

  • Salary: £28,808 pro rata
  • Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (12 months), Part-Time (3 days/week)
  • Reporting to: Collections Team / Curatorial Lead
  • Programme/Curator: Collections Gallery Expansion
  • Additional Info: Some evening/weekend work required (TOIL provided)

Position & Tasks

  • Assist with research, cataloguing, and documentation of artworks.
  • Support the installation, presentation, and maintenance of the RA’s Collections Gallery.
  • Provide administrative support to the curatorial team, including correspondence, scheduling, and project coordination.
  • Contribute to information gathering, collection audits, and collaborative curatorial projects.
  • Participate in occasional evening or weekend events, ensuring smooth gallery operations and public engagement.

Eligibility

  • Degree in History of Art or equivalent experience.
