The Sandberg Instituut is the postgraduate department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. It offers specialized Master’s programmes that focus on research, experimentation, and professional development in the fields of fine arts, design, and interior architecture.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2028 Master’s Programmes.
As a government-funded and accredited institution, Sandberg provides a rigorous full-time, two-year environment (120 ECTS) for artists and researchers. This year, the institute is accepting applications for its flagship departments and a unique new temporary program.
Available Departments:
- Critical Studies: Focuses on the intersection of art, theory, and research.
- Fine Arts: Dedicated to autonomous artistic practice.
- Design: Exploring the boundaries of visual communication and social design.
- Dirty Art Department: An open-ended residency-based master’s.
- Studio for Immediate Spaces (SIS): Leads to an MA in Interior Architecture.
- Phantom Scores: A new temporary programme for this cycle.

Eligibility:
- Who: Professional artists and researchers holding a valid Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent professional experience).

Program Benefits & Awards:
- Accreditation: Provides an internationally recognized Master of Arts (MA) degree.
- Financial Aid: Non-EU students may be eligible for one of two NL Scholarships worth €5,000.
- Housing: Limited furnished accommodation is available specifically for new, international full-time students from non-EU countries.
