Organizer Information
Hypha Studios is a UK charity (Registered Charity Number 1194915, England & Wales) that matches artists and creative practitioners with vacant properties, offering free temporary or permanent studio and project space to remove financial barriers to making and showing work. Founded by curator Camilla Cole in 2021, the organisation acts as a mediator between landlords and creatives, negotiating rent-free lease agreements in exchange for public-facing programming that brings footfall and cultural activity back to high streets. Between 2021 and 2025, Hypha Studios has hosted over 110 exhibitions across the UK and supported over 2,000 artists with free exhibition and studio space, welcoming more than 36,000 members of the public to exhibitions and events. Each placement is paired with a mentorship or career development session, and the organisation works with a range of creative disciplines including visual artists, curators, musicians, actors, dancers, and choreographers.
