European Theatre Convention (ETC) is Europe’s largest network of public theatres, founded in 1988 by three major theatres in France, Germany, and Belgium. Position: Strategic Communication Specialist
This is a full-time, fixed-term (1 year) communication role based within the ETC team. The position aims to strengthen and lead strategic communications that support ETC’s visibility, advocacy, partnerships, and major European projects — integrating theatre with European cultural policy and institutional audiences.Role Overview

- Reporting To: Executive Director of ETC
- Location: Berlin, Germany (office plus hybrid work option)
- Salary: Approx. €3,500+ gross/month (depending on experience)
- Position Focus: Strategy, advocacy, narrative building, institutional communications, media partnerships, project communication leadership.
- Travel may be required, with meetings and events happening evenings/weekends.
Position & Tasks
The Strategic Communication Specialist will:- Design and lead high-level communication campaigns for key European-wide projects.
- Develop and maintain editorial and media partnerships with European outlets, including broadcast and digital platforms.
- Initiate and sustain stakeholder dialogue with EU institutions, policymakers (MEPs, European Commission officials) and cultural partners.
- Oversee the transition and launch of ETC’s new website in collaboration with the digital team and external partners.
- Support all communication activities (website content, newsletters, social media) in coordination with other ETC communications roles.
- Represent ETC’s communication strategy in projects and advocacy outputs.

Eligibility
- International Applicants: Yes
- Sector experience in cultural communications, with a European or international cultural institutional context strongly preferred.
- No explicit nationality restrictions.
- Senior-level experience (approx. 5–10+ years) in strategic communication, advocacy, cultural policy or public affairs.
- English required, additional European languages are an asset.
