Throwing Shapes, in partnership with Staycity, offers the "Clay City" residency program. Throwing Shapes is a prominent Dublin-based ceramics studio that fosters a community for both professional makers and enthusiasts.

Applications are now open for the Summer 2026 Professional Residency.
This 3-month program is specifically designed for established ceramic artists and potters. It provides the space and resources to develop a self-directed, research-led body of work, culminating in a solo exhibition. The residency emphasizes community engagement, professional mentorship, and artistic development.

Eligibility:
- Experience: Established practitioners with a proven track record (3+ years of independent work, 3+ collections, or equivalent).
- Skills: Applicants must possess advanced ceramics or pottery skills.
- Residency/Visa: International applicants are welcome. However, you must be legally entitled to live and work in Ireland for the duration of the residency (securing a visa is the applicant's responsibility).
- Commitment: Must commit to full participation in studio activities and the donation of one piece created during the residency to the Throwing Shapes collection.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Accommodation: Fully subsidized city-center accommodation in a spacious two-bedroom apartment in North Dublin (shared with a graduate resident). Note: Rent is free, but residents must cover utility bills.
- Studio Access: 3 months of full access to the ceramics studio, wheels, kilns, glazes, and equipment. (Note: Clay, specific materials, and firing costs are not included).
- Exhibition: A solo exhibition at the end of the residency with professional curatorial and marketing support.
- Mentorship: Sessions with studio leaders and social media mentorship with Staycity media staff.
- Teaching: Opportunities to lead workshops and engage in community-based learning.

All materials must be submitted as PDFs named in the format FirstnameSurnameFilename.pdf:
- Residency Proposal: A one-page PDF outlining a self-directed project (e.g., an exhibition, material research, or commissioned work).
- Artist CV: Maximum two pages.
- Portfolio: Up to five works or collections with captions.
- References: Names and contact details for two referees.
- Letter of Recommendation.
