Konstnärsnämnden (Swedish Arts Grants Committee) is Sweden’s national authority that supports the professional development of artists, designers, and cultural practitioners through grants, stipendier, and international residency programmes. Its mission is to enhance artistic practice, promote international exchange, and strengthen Swedish cultural presence abroad.
One of the organization’s core international initiatives is led by the IASPIS – Internationellt program för bild och form (International Programme for Visual and Applied Artists), which partners with prestigious residency hosts globally. Among these is the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York — a globally recognised residency platform for contemporary Visual Arts, Design, and interdisciplinary practice.

Residens i New York, ISCP (2027) — International Residency for Visual & Applied Artists
This open call invites Swedish professional practitioners working in visual and applied arts — including painting, photography, design, craft, illustration, textile art, and architecture — to apply for a
fully supported Residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York,
United States. Selected artists will spend three months in New York during one of four terms in 2027 (January–March, April–June, July–September, October–December).
The programme provides access to a private studio, central furnished apartment on Manhattan’s Hudson Street, and a stipend to cover Travel Costs, living expenses, and certain material costs. It also fosters international networking, professional exposure, and engagement with a vibrant global art community.

Eligibility
- Be professional artists with an active artistic practice in visual and applied arts (e.g., visual arts, photography, design, craft, illustration, textile art, or architecture).
- Earn part or all of their living through artistic work and regularly present their work publicly.
- Be resident in Sweden or conduct the majority of their artistic practice in Sweden (non‑Swedish citizens may apply but must fulfil residency/working criteria).
- Not be enrolled in formal studies exceeding 50% of their time at the moment a decision is made.
- Have no outstanding debts or insolvency issues requiring action by the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogdemyndigheten).
- Not have received state funding (“de minimis aid”) exceeding €300,000 in the last three years.
Program Benefits & Awards
Monetary Support:
- A grant of SEK 90,000 is awarded to each selected artist. This stipendiary support is intended to cover Travel Costs, living expenses, and material costs during the residency.
Residency Package:
- A studio of approximately 25 m² at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) facilities in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
- A furnished two‑room apartment centrally located on Hudson Street in Manhattan, rented on behalf of the resident for the duration of the residency.
Professional Development & Exposure:
- Opportunity to work within one of New York’s most significant international Residency communities, with access to studio visits, Artist Talks, exhibitions, field trips, and cultural exchange.
- Chance to expand artistic networks and collaborate with other international artists and curators.
Note: The award is tax‑exempt and does not require financial reporting, but residents provide a report describing their residency experience after returning to Sweden.

Application Requirements
- A completed application form via Konstnärsnämnden’s online service (“My pages”).
- Work samples (5–10 files) representing current artistic practice. Acceptable formats include:
- jpg (≤ 2 MB)
- mp3 (≤ 20 MB)
- mp4 / mov (≤ 50 MB)
- Each uploaded file must include the title, year, technique, dimensions, and a brief description.
- All mandatory fields in the application form must be completed before submission.
Applications may also be submitted on paper if online access is unavailable, but digital submission is recommended for tracking via “My pages.”
