Teaser is a space in the heart of Venice bringing together contemporary art exhibitions, culinary events and other public programs aiming to host practices of togetherness. To tease, in old English means to pluck or pull apart, means to draw gently from the fibers of the unseen. That’s exactly what Teaser longs to work with. The pleasures we tend to dismiss, the moments we occasionally forget, the stories we don’t often speak. Teaser aims to create a safe space hosting from intimate gatherings to collective practices, a world that grows with artistic practices, culinary experiences, curated programs.

Title & Description:

Earthly Gleam

Under the theme title Earthly Gleam, Teaser is launching its open call program aiming to engage with, support and showcase the work of artists, photographers, writers, filmmakers and performers whose practice responds to matters originating from or concluding to the earth, both as a concept and as an architectural structure that holds the lives of human and non-human beings. How can we look at earth as a constantly evolving space where the natural and the artificial, the real and the speculative, the autonomous and the collective co-exist? Which are the tools that can challenge traditional representations of the spaces we occupy in our personal and professional lives? How can we use our vernaculars, gaze and bodies in ways that go beyond the normative apprehensions of space?

We invite artists that stay with the aforementioned inquiries to submit their work for a group exhibition that will take place in our space in Venice during this autumn. We are looking for already produced works. Teaser will cover the production of the works in space. The exhibition will be curated by the Teaser Team, consisting of Konstantina Sidiropoulou (artist, photographer and owner of Teaser Venice) and Ioanna Gerakidi (writer, curator and educator).
