Uddenskulptur is a long-standing sculpture initiative located at Udden, a former stone quarry in Hunnebostrand, Sweden. The organization hosts outdoor sculpture exhibitions in a dramatic natural setting, featuring vertical granite walls with views of the North Sea. Uddenskulptur has been running for over fifteen years, providing artists with opportunities to create site-specific works and to engage with the local community through lectures and exhibitions. The project emphasizes stone sculpture and craftsmanship while fostering cultural and educational exchange.

Title & Description

Uddenskulptur 2026 – Open Call for Sculptors
Uddenskulptur 2026 invites artists to propose either existing works suitable for the quarry site or plans for new site-specific sculptures. Selected artists creating new works will be offered a one-month residency in Bohuslän, Sweden, to produce their sculpture with access to professional stone carving facilities and high-quality local stone. Artists are also expected to give at least one lecture about their work or stone sculpture in general. Finished works will remain with Uddenskulptur for display or potential sale. This opportunity combines artistic creation, professional support, and public engagement in a world-renowned quarry setting.

Eligibility

Open to professional sculptors and artists experienced or interested in stone sculpture. International and national artists may apply. Applicants may propose both new work for production in Sweden or existing works for exhibition.

Program Benefits & Awards

  • Residency in Bohuslän, Sweden, for one month (March–May 2026) with accommodation in a cabin
  • Travel allowance up to SEK 5,000
  • Daily food stipend of SEK 4,500
  • Production fee of SEK 100,000 (paid on invoice)
  • Access to a fully equipped stone sculpture workshop with tools, a compressor, and lifting equipment
  • High-quality local stone for creation (Bohus granite, diabase, labradorite, or natural boulders)
  • Insurance coverage during the exhibition (shared deductible)
  • Potential exhibition allowance and printed catalogue if funding is secured

Additional Details
