Short Description
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is pleased to announce a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to professional artists to create art for the new Illini Hall— a world class facility for learning, innovation, and discovery in the mathematical sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
A major new artwork is sought for the Mathematics and Statistics Common Room at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The common room will be 2,000 SF, much of it two-story, with dramatic views of the rest of campus, and will be housed in the new Illini Hall, which is currently being built in Champaign, Illinois. This room will be a multi-purpose gathering space for the faculty and graduate students of the Departments of Mathematics and Statis cs and will serve as both the social and intellectual hearts of these two departments.
Submission Requirements
Information to be provided includes a resume, the artist statement or letter of intent, references, and art samples in PDF or JPEG format, limited to a total of 14 images of at most 15 MB each.

Program Benefits & Awards
The budget shall not exceed $350,000. The budget includes all expenses associated with, but not limited to the design proposals, design, labor, fabrica on, project management, materials, tools, contracted services, opera ons and mee ngs, travel required to complete the artwork plus installa on, related permits, licenses, taxes, insurance, transporta on and delivery of the work to the site, as well as documentation of the completed project. Any expense that exceeds the contracted amount will be the artist’s responsibility. If special installation requirements are needed for large and/or complex pieces, the artist is responsible for working with the University of Illinois Facilities & Services and other relevant partners to oversee all aspects of the installation.
