Unbound Visual Arts (UVA). UVA is a local arts organization, and this residency utilizes their active gallery space.

Title & Description:

Applications are open for the UVA Studio Residency 2026.

This seven-week residency provides space for an artist, thinker, curator, or collective to complete a work, develop an idea, test out a particular technique, or deeply think through concepts and research material for a future project. The selected artist may also organize public activations or invite guest collaborators during their time in the space.

Multidisciplinary (Open to all makers, including visual artists, composers, writers, performance artists, curators, thinkers, and collectives).

Eligibility:

  • Who: Open to multidisciplinary creators and collectives. Applicants are asked to review the available gallery resources to ensure the space is a good fit for their specific needs.
  • Space Preservation: The resident MUST refrain from participating in any acts that would alter, damage, or permanently compromise the gallery when working in the space. Failure to do so will make the artist entirely responsible for damages and repair costs.
  • Public Presentation: The artist MUST plan a final presentation (performance, screening, short exhibition, lecture, reading, or happening) that showcases works completed and in-progress.
  • Scheduling: The artist must determine their agreed-upon working hours collaboratively with UVA staff.

Program Benefits & Awards:

  • Stipend: A $1,500 stipend (to be used at the artist’s discretion).
  • Workspace: Seven weeks of exclusive use of the UVA gallery as a studio/working space.
  • Resources: Access to gallery supplies and audio-visual equipment.
  • Support: Assistance and collaboration from UVA staff to organize relevant programming, public activations, and the final presentation.

  • Residency Dates: June 14 – August 2, 2026 (7 weeks).
  • Final Presentation: August 1 – 2, 2026.
