VORBRENNER is a contemporary art platform operating within the BRUX premises in Innsbruck. Funded by the City of Innsbruck and the Province of Tyrol, the platform promotes process-oriented work, welcoming the unfinished, the paradoxical, and the fragmentary across all disciplines.

Applications are open for the VORBRENNER 2027 Annual Program.
Under the associative theme "Quiet internal rebellions: The Caretaker," VORBRENNER is seeking interdisciplinary projects with an experimental approach. Selected projects will be granted space, technical infrastructure, PR support, and financial resources to develop and present performative, installative, or participatory works. Projects are implemented during April, June, September, and October 2027.

Eligibility:
- Who: Individual artists and collectives.
- Focus: Projects must be conceived and implemented for the first time, operating at the intersection of various artistic genres.
- Public Event: At least one public event must take place as part of the project (and admission must be 100% free of charge).
- Funding Restrictions: Because VORBRENNER is funded by the City of Innsbruck and the State of Tyrol, applicants cannot seek additional project funding from these two specific entities.
Program Benefits & Awards:
- Financial Support: VORBRENNER has an annual fund of €40,000, which is distributed among the selected projects (historically around 8 to 9 projects per year).
- Workspace: Use of the BRUX theater spaces (a 235 m² black room and a 145 m² white room) for 1 to 4 weeks. Alternatively, projects can be realized in public spaces in Innsbruck/Tirol.
- Technical Support: Access to two in-house technicians for a specified number of hours, plus extensive technical infrastructure (spotlights, PA system, projectors, modular stage elements).
- Accommodation: VORBRENNER does not provide lodging, but artists can include the cost of their accommodation within their submitted budget.
Application Requirements:
Submissions must be consolidated into ONE single PDF file (maximum 12 pages, maximum 2 MB). Incomplete, late, or formally incorrect submissions will not be considered.
- Point of View Rule: The project description must be written in the third person (e.g., "In their work, the artist explores..."), not the first person.
