The Vermont Studio Center (VSC) was founded by artists in 1984. Located in Johnson, Vermont, the center's historic buildings overlook the beautiful Gihon River in the northern Green Mountains. VSC's mission is to provide studio residencies within an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form.
Title & Description:
Applications are now open for the Vermont Studio Center Artist & Writer Residency.
This specific open call will fill residency slots from January to June 2027. For four decades, VSC has offered creators the opportunity to deeply engage with global creative communities. The residency frequently invites Visiting Writers and Artists from around the world to mentor residents, present readings, facilitate craft talks, and give public lectures.
Applications are juried together in a pool by a rotating jury of practicing artists and writers. Various fellowship opportunities are available during each application cycle. Applicants whose work is well-received but who are not awarded a fellowship may still be invited for general admission.
(Note: VSC Alumni may apply through a separate Returning Alumni Program, and there is a separate application period for the specialized VT Week).
