Wallis Annenberg Curatorial Fellowship
Short Description
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is offering a two-year Wallis Annenberg Curatorial Fellowship in its Latin American Art department. This fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive curatorial training, support advanced scholarly research on the museum’s permanent collection, and engage the Fellow in organizing an international traveling exhibition exploring the connections between Asia and Latin America in the early modern period.
The fellowship focuses on Spanish American/viceregal art and early modern art, with an emphasis on developing an international exhibition that connects Asia and Latin America during the early modern period.
The Fellow will be deeply involved in curatorial responsibilities—including research, cataloguing, exhibition planning, public programming, acquisitions, and fundraising—under the mentorship of the department head and cross-department collaborators.
Position Type:
Regular, full-time fellowship
Duration: Two years, with duties integrated into all curatorial facets
Location: Los Angeles, CA, US
Salary Range: $26.45 to $27.65 per hour (including full benefits and a travel allowance)
Start Date: September 1, 2025
Eligibility
Applicants should have at least 2 years of museum experience—preferably with Spanish American/viceregal and early modern art.
A Ph.D. in art history or ABD status is preferred.
Proficiency in Spanish (especially reading) is required; knowledge of Portuguese and French is an asset.
Candidates must demonstrate broad intellectual curiosity, strong research and communication skills, and a keen interest in acquiring, interpreting, and exhibiting art.
