Short Description

The Wrong Biennale is a global art event dedicated to generating and showcasing artistic creativity across virtual, physical and hybrid platforms.

It functions as a laboratory, a network of networks, an exhibition of exhibitions, one could say, where both emerging and established artists engage with contemporary art and culture and its frontiers.

The words MoonsCastles, and Trees refer to three verses from ‘Cinnamon Horses’ by Nick Cave, featured on the 2024 album ‘Wild God’.

Eligibility

I invite artists (in the broadest sense, painters, photographers, writers, poets, calligraphers, illustrators, sculptors, print-makers, generative artists, graffiti and stencil, et cetera) to explore these questions through still images, whether a single photograph or a series of up to six.

All image-making methods are welcome.

Program Benefits & Awards

Participating in this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to showcase your art globally, engaging with contemporary digital art practices and potentially discovering new artistic processes. If selected, your work will be seen by an international audience of art enthusiasts, collectors, and curators.

Beyond the significant exposure, you’ll also join an innovative and diverse network of digital artists within The Wrong Biennale, fostering a vibrant community where you can connect, collaborate, and share insights with fellow creators.

This platform provides several exciting possibilities:

  • Sparking New Ideas: The specific framing of our open call might inspire new ideas, resulting in works that wouldn’t have been made otherwise.
  • Future Collaborations: You could come into contact with future collaborators, forging connections that transcend geographical boundaries and artistic disciplines.
  • Critical Illustration: It offers a unique opportunity to critically illustrate negative power mechanisms often found in traditional, centralized art exhibitions, particularly concerning selection and exclusion.
  • Inspiration and Innovation: Through the open ethos of the biennale, you might find inspiration in the remixing and reworking of material provided for free use, pushing your practice and processes in unexpected directions.

Ultimately, it’s about dissemination and reach; the more people that participate, the farther the networks will extend in time and space.
