Short Description
Since October 1997, the Canton of Zug has maintained a residential studio in Berlin. Artists from Zug in all disciplines can apply for a residency/grant lasting several months (4–6 months).
The studio is located in the Berlin-Mitte district, behind the Hackesche Höfe and near Alexanderplatz, at the corner of Auguststrasse/Gipsstrasse. It is a loft-style, fully furnished live-in studio on the 3rd floor. The studio space includes an open kitchen, a bathroom, and a gallery used as a sleeping area. The studio is very bright and has telephone and internet access. Due to the size of the studio apartment, it is also suitable for small families.
Eligibility
The call is open to professional artists of all disciplines (visual and applied arts, photography, film/video, cultural mediation, music, dance, theatre, literature) with a convincing track record and appropriate motivation.
Eligible to apply are:
- Persons who, at the time of application, have been resident in the Canton of Zug (according to Art. 23 ff. ZGB) for at least two years;
- Persons who, at an earlier time, had their residence in the Canton of Zug (according to Art. 23 ff. ZGB) for at least ten years.
An application for a residency in Berlin excludes simultaneous applications for residencies in New York and Vienna, as well as for the “Atelier Flex” travel grant in the same year. However, participation in the competition for project grants or the Zug Work Year award in the same calendar year remains possible.
