Delfina Foundation

Overview

Established in 2007 as the successor to the renowned Delfina Studio Trust (founded in 1988 by Delfina Entrecanales), Delfina Foundation is an independent, non-political, non-grant-making organization based in central London, UK. Located on Catherine Place near Buckingham Palace across two amalgamated Edwardian houses, it is London’s largest provider of international residencies for artists, curators, writers, and creative practitioners. The facility features a 1,650 sq. ft. event/exhibition space, shared living-studio areas accommodating up to 8 residents simultaneously, a library/resource archive, a courtyard, and offices.

Mission

Delfina Foundation aims to promote artistic exchange, experimentation, and international mobility by creating career-defining research and commission opportunities. Grounded in critical inquiry and cross-border partnership, the foundation seeks to foster mutual understanding, elevate underrepresented practices, position cultural practices within pressing global discourses, and build collaborative platforms between artists, curators, institutions, and the public.

Programs / Opportunities

• Thematic Residency Seasons: Fully funded, 3-month residential stays structured around salient contemporary themes (such as performance, gastronomy, collecting, and technology) bringing together multidisciplinary practitioners to engage in joint research and dialogue.
• Open Call & International Partner Residencies: Tailored research and creation residencies supported by a global network of partners, focusing particularly on strong historical and expanding ties with the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.
• Public Programming & Exhibitions: A vibrant public schedule featuring exhibitions, performance commissions, panel discussions, artist talks, film screenings, and public open house events.
