“Ey!Studio AiR” takes place at #Ey!Studio, an independent creative space and residency programme based in Carabanchel, Madrid, since 2017. Founded as an artist-run space, #Ey!Studio provides time and space for research, experimentation and the development of artistic and creative projects.
While its history has been closely connected to visual and performance-based practices, the residency is open to creative practitioners from a wide range of disciplines, including writing, research, music, audiovisual practices, curating and interdisciplinary projects.
#Ey!Studio is located in Carabanchel, a neighbourhood that has become one of Madrid’s leading centres for contemporary artistic production. Over the last decade, the growing presence of galleries, artists’ studios, workshops and independent initiatives has transformed the district into an important destination for artists and cultural practitioners working in the city and beyond.
Recognised for the strength of its creative community, Carabanchel has gained increasing international attention and is now home to one of the largest concentrations of contemporary art spaces in Madrid. Its proximity to Madrid Río, the historic Puente de Toledo and the city centre offers residents the opportunity to work within a vibrant urban context while benefiting from a neighbourhood with its own distinct cultural identity.
Since 2017, Ey!Studio has welcomed more than 65 residents from different countries and backgrounds, fostering an international community of artists, researchers, curators and cultural practitioners connected through the programme.
