The Edinburgh Futures Institute invites applications for its Visiting Fellowship Program, available for the 2025/26 academic year. This program offers an exciting opportunity for academic professionals and researchers to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment that fosters innovation and creativity. At the Edinburgh Futures Institute, we address today’s complex global challenges by bringing together experts across diverse fields to drive research and create impactful solutions. The fellowship will allow participants to engage with other researchers, business partners, and students while contributing to the ongoing academic discourse. Fellows will also have access to training courses and will be part of seminars and events to enrich their experience. Information & Application Details: Application Deadline: by midnight (GMT), January 23, 2025 (Successful applicants will be notified by the end of February 2025.) Event period: 3 to 6 months, within an academic semester. Financial Support: £1,500 per month towards relocation, plus reimbursement for travel and visa costs (if applicable). (Additional support may be provided for successful applicants from LMICs.) Eligibility: • Applicants should hold an open-ended academic position at their institution at the time of the visit or possess equivalent professional experience. • Applicants must be based outside of the University of Edinburgh. • Applications are encouraged from individuals in LMICs (low- and middle-income countries) or from underrepresented groups within the Futures Institute. Ideal applicants will be: • Working on projects related to our key research areas. • Have prior experience in leading research projects or initiatives in these fields. • Planning to develop grant proposals that would benefit from a visit to the Futures Institute. Selection Process: • Proven research and engagement leadership in existing or previous projects (commensurate with career stage). • Existing research links with academic sponsors and the wider Edinburgh ecosystem. • The research impact potential of the proposal and its societal relevance. • The applicant’s plans to engage with and contribute to the Futures Institute and the wider academic community in Edinburgh.
