Brief Description

The Anderson Ranch Artists-in-Residence Program provides emerging and established visual artists with time, space, and facilities to advance their creative practice. Residents engage in interdisciplinary projects, interact with fellow artists, and receive feedback from visiting artists and critics. The program supports risk-taking and exploration of new ideas.

Information & Application Details

  • Program Duration:
    • Spring Residency: Two sessions, each 5 weeks (February–March & March–April)
    • Fall Residency: 10 weeks (October–December)
  • Location: Anderson Ranch Arts Center
  • Facilities Provided: Housing, studio space, meals
  • Disciplines Supported: Ceramics, new media, photography, furniture design, woodworking, painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture
  • Fee:
    • Fall Residency: $1,500 for 10 weeks
    • Spring Residency: $750 for 5 weeks + $100 studio fee
    • Application Fee: $30 (non-refundable)
    • Fully-funded fellowships available for select residents

Eligibility

  • Open to international applicants
  • Applicants must be 21+
  • Special residency available for artists affected by Los Angeles wildfires

Theme

  • No specific theme; applicants propose their own projects

How to Apply

  • Applications open from December to February each year
  • Apply via SlideRoom with a $30 application fee
  • Deadline: February 17, 2025

Submission Requirements

  • Website/Instagram
  • Resume/CV and short bio
  • Statement of Purpose (project plan)
  • Three references (contact info only; no letters required)
  • 10 images of work (completed in the last 3 years)
    • JPEG (max 5MB each)
    • Video (max 250MB each, up to 2 minutes)

Selection Process

  • Jury panel review
  • Notification of acceptance: April 2025
