The Australian Good Design Awards celebrate global excellence in design, innovation, and social impact across various disciplines. Established in 1958 and endorsed by the World Design Organization (WDO), the awards recognize projects that shape the way we live, work, and interact. The 2025 theme, “Rewarding, Defining and Celebrating Better ______,” encourages participants to define what “better” means within their field.

  • Entries Open: Late February 2025
  • Early Bird Deadline: March 17, 2025
  • Final Submission Deadline: May 2, 2025
  • Judging: May – July 2025
  • Notification of Results: Early August 2025
  • Awards Ceremony: October 17, 2025, ICC Sydney

  • Entry Fees:

    • Next Gen (Student): Free
    • Social Impact / Concept Design: $245 AUD
    • All Other Disciplines: $495 AUD
    • Early Bird Discount: 10% (before March 17, 2025)

 

Eligibility:

  • Open to international entries.
  • Projects must be complete or on the market before the awards ceremony.
  • Next Gen category for entrants under 30, from Australia or New Zealand.

 

Categories: Architecture & Built Environment, Communication Design (Graphic, Digital, Branding, Typography), Design Research, Digital Design (Web, Apps, User Experience, UI/UX), Engineering Design, Fashion Impact, Medical and Scientific Design, Next Gen (for emerging designers or students), Product Design (Consumer Goods, Furniture, Electronics, etc.), Service Design, Social Impact, Automotive & Transport Design, Design Strategy, Interior & Furniture Design, Sustainability.

 

How to Apply:

  • Register and submit via the online Entry Portal.
  • Download the Blank Entry PDF to draft responses.

 

Submission Requirements:

  • Online application through the Entry Portal.
  • Project descriptions, images, and supporting materials.
  • Compliance with safety certifications (if applicable).

 

Selection Process:

  • Three-stage evaluation: online scoring, group evaluation, and final multidisciplinary assessment.
  • Judging criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation, and Design Impact.
