Brief Description:
The American Library in Paris Visiting Fellowship, established in 2013, supports writers, researchers, and creators in fostering French-American cultural understanding. Sponsored by The de Groot Foundation, the fellowship provides a one-month residency in Paris for independent creative work while contributing to the Library’s cultural programs.

  • Residency Period: One month, between September 2025 and June 2026 (not available in July or August).
  • Grant/Stipend: $5,000 USD (to cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses).

  • Fellows must present a public program tied to this theme.

    • One-page cover letter and two-page CV.
    • One-page project description (timeline, current stage, and impact of the residency).
    • Three brief (max 50 words each) public program proposals related to “Ways of Seeing”.

Selection Process:

  • Applications are reviewed based on project originality, relevance to the Library’s mission, and the ability to engage the Library’s audience.
  • Fellows are expected to dedicate at least three half-days per week to work in the Library.
