Short Description
Art Jameel invites curators (individuals or collectives) to submit exhibition proposals for Hayy Arts’s first floor gallery at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah. The call centers on projects engaging with themes related to the Red Sea—including its ecologies, migration histories, connected geographies, Hejazi and architectural histories, trade, food, and more—with the goal of exploring critical intersections of culture and history.
Information & Application Details:
Position: Curatorial Open Call for an exhibition proposal to be developed for May 2026.
Theme: Red Sea-related topics (e.g., ecologies, migration, Hejazi histories, connected geographies across the Red Sea).
Collaboration: The awarded curator will work closely with the Art Jameel team for guidance on concept development, exhibition production, design, logistics, and installation.
Travel Requirements: Applicants must be available to travel to Jeddah for a scoping visit (up to 3 days, November–December 2025), participate on-site for up to two weeks (January–March 2026), assist with installation and opening in April/May 2026, and potentially join de-installation in September 2026.

Application Requirements:
Brief Curatorial Statement: Up to 200 words with a working title.
Detailed Exhibition Proposal: 600–1,000 words explaining the concept, its relevance to SKV’s mission, plus a prior research/literature review (up to 800 words).
Checklist of Proposed Works:
Include images, titles, dates, mediums, technical requirements, and potential lenders (subject to later revision by Art Jameel).

One Writing Sample.
Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting relevant experience.
All documents must be compiled into one PDF file as specified.

Eligibility

Groups or collectives may apply, but applicants must not include their own artwork in the exhibition.
