Short Description
The Rebanks Postdoctoral Fellowship is a 12–24-month research opportunity at the ROM for scholars who earned their Ph.D. within the past five years. The fellowship is designed to support original research in art, culture, and history, with access to ROM’s world-class collections.

Fellowship Responsibilities:
Conduct original research aligned with ROM’s mission.
Publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Engage in public outreach and programming (~10% of time).
Potentially assist in exhibition development.
Submission Requirements
Cover Letter (1 page) – Explain interest and project relevance.
CV – Academic background, research, and publications.
Research Proposal (2 pages + references) – Outline research focus and methodology.
Sample Publications (up to 3) – Demonstrate expertise.
Statement of Support from a ROM Curator – Confirm feasibility of research at ROM.
References (2 contacts) – For academic qualifications and research experience.
Submission Process
Review by ROM scholars – Applications are ranked based on academic merit and alignment with ROM’s mission.
Panel Interview – Conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Reference Checks – Two references may be contacted.
Eligibility
Ph.D. earned within the last five years in a relevant field.
Strong publication record and research experience.
Interest in broadening and diversifying historical narratives.
Commitment to public engagement and community outreach.
Preference for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Program Benefits or Awards
1-year full-time contract (renewable for a second year).
$55,000 annual salary with benefits.
$2,500 research and travel stipend per year.
