Short Description
The Sammlung Goetz is an internationally renowned contemporary art collection. Founded in
1993, it now contains more than 5,500 works from nearly all artistic genres. A more recent focus
is media art, represented by videos, slide projections, extensive multi-channel projections, and
room-sized installations.
Media art is a focal point of the Sammlung Goetz. It includes films, videos, slide projections, extensive multi-channel projections and expansive installations. With more than 500 works, this collection of media art is one of the most extensive worldwide. The Sammlung Goetz strives not only to exhibit and preserve its holdings, but also to expand them.
Eligibility
The prize is open to young students of the Academy of Fine Arts Munich who will complete their studies within the next six months or who have done so within the last two years. The application should include a short concept statement for a media artwork yet to be realized (films, videos, and installations are permitted), supplemented by a comprehensive portfolio of the applicant’s artistic career to date.
Submission Requirements
- Illustrative project description (no more than two manuscript pages)
- Cost calculation (The prize money reflects the maximum production costs, including all expenses and fees. No additional or external financing may exceed this.)
- Time plan for the work’s execution (The work must be completed by the end of July 2026 at the latest.)
- Curriculum vitae and portfolio or links to image and film material of realized works

Program Benefits & Awards
With the goal of promoting young artists in the field of media art and supporting the creation of new works and strengthening their public perception, the Kunststiftung Ingvild und Stephan Goetz—in cooperation with the Sammlung Goetz and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich—has established a new media art award. Endowed with 5,000 euros, it allows the recipient to realize an artwork and exhibit it in the AkademieGalerie.
