Short Description
The AlmResidency is an artist residency in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. For nine years now, five artists have been coming together every year for an intensive ten-day working and research period in two remote huts. The Ochsenhütte, with its more than one hundred years of history, offers three artists an inspiring home in the middle of the dense forest. The stove provides cosy warmth, while the nearby stream provides clear water. Located higher, the Jagaheisl opens up space for creative work for two other residents. The simple shower area with watering can in front of the hut offers a wide view down into the valley. With 42 international residents, the AlmResidency has developed into a recognized cultural institution that is valued beyond the borders of Bavaria.
Since the beginning, the AlmResidency has paid special attention to the Open Call, which explicitly calls on artists of all ages, cultural backgrounds, sexual and religious orientations to apply, thus striving for a maximum inclusive occupation of the residency every year. In order to make the selection of artists as varied and transparent as possible, we invite a changing guest juror every year. For the year 2024, we had the honour of having curator and artist Anna Schölß in the team.
Eligibility
The selected 4-5 artists will be announced by the end of April 2025. Collectives are also eligible to apply. The guest juror will be announced shortly.
